Event Recap: Training Officers Consortium Annual Institute 2021 icon

Management Concepts was proud to sponsor the Training Officers Consortium (TOC) Annual Institute, which took place online April 26-28, 2021. Inspired by the Olympic games, “Workforce 2021: Lighting the Torch; Carrying the Flame” carried the themes of leadership, dedication, and perseverance throughout the event.

We greeted many new faces and old friends at our virtual booth, taking advantage of the video chat feature to connect in real time.

Our session, Effective Leadership Development in Today’s Federal Environment, was presented by Carol Paiva, Director, Product Management, and Betty Friedman, Performance Manager & Leadership Solutions Consultant. During the session, they explored the state of federal leadership, leadership attributes in government, framework and effective methods for leadership development, and applications of the framework, with examples. Session attendees engaged throughout the presentation through chat and Q&A after the presentation.

Michelle Clark, Director of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships, is currently serving her first term on the TOC board and co-hosted their two networking events, Show and Tell and One Gotta Go. Both were well attended by the attendees and brought very energetic and insightful conversations following the training.

Even in the virtual format, the Annual Institute continued its tradition of being a lively event, as was expressed many times throughout, especially during the closing ceremony. Outgoing board chair Claire Gudewich likened the TOC members to family, which perfectly expresses the comradeship of those who attended the event.
