"Yes, and..." — Looking back at NCMA World Congress 2022
Written by: Vera Medici
Management Concepts was proud to sponsor and exhibit at the 2022 National Contract Management Association (NCMA) World Congress, held July 18–20, 2022. The 1,400 attendees were excited to convene in person in Chicago, with an additional 400 attendees participating online. During the three days of the event, NCMA emphasized the idea of new ideas leading to the future with the theme, “Contracting Solutions for a ‘Yes, and . . .’ World.”
Forward Thinkers
The opening general sessions with Dr. Charles “Chuck” Barber and Avish Parashar raised several thought-provoking points: first, how to build a framework that harmonizes diversity and meritocracy, and second, how to adapt one’s mindset and language to default to the word “and” instead of “but” to transform results and trajectories for increased positivity and productivity.
Another general session featured a panel from across the US federal government, military, and private sector discussing “Fearless Influencers: The Difference Makers in a ‘Yes, and . . .’ World.” A variety of other topics were covered in additional general sessions and breakouts, including learning through gamification, mental health and anxiety, budgeting, procurement, hybrid work environments, and negotiating.
Management Concepts: A Step Ahead
Our new Career Gateway: Acquisition experiential, cohort-based training solution for new professionals took center stage on the expo floor and on our virtual booth. The training scenario follows a threaded storyline where students support the establishment of a settlement on Mars, and in that spirit, Management Concepts set up a fun photo booth for in-person attendees to take pictures with an astronaut standup in front of a Mars landscape backdrop during our Learning Pavilion session, “Addressing Challenges for New Acquisition and Contracting Professionals.” Robert Daugherty, the product management director for acquisition and contracting at Management Concepts, addressed the need to rethink the training paradigm for those new to the field in a recorded video that was followed by a live Q&A. As an added benefit, special launch pricing will enable those who enroll in the inaugural cohort to save 20 percent.
We also had plenty to share in new offerings in our Acquisition and Contracting Credentials programs and Digital IT Acquisition Professional (DITAP) program.
Looking Forward
In a time of rapid change, acquisition and contracting professionals have risen to the challenge and are prepared for what comes next, and Management Concepts is ready to support them both now and in the future.
